Media Release: make-over
Monday, May 5th, 2008Junction Fair undergoes a make-over
Newcastle’s ‘Shopping Village by the Sea’, The Junction, is set to benefit when the area’s main shopping destination, Junction Fair begins a make-over this month. The upgrade aims to improve the look and feel of Junction Fair, while complimenting the first-class retailers that call the suburb home.
The $2.8mproject is expected to be complete by September, and includes new facades, signage, colours and added exterior lighting. All centre businesses will be open as usual during this time and parking will not be affected.
“The Junction is a unique shopping destination and Junction Fair is a major part of the shopping experience in this area,” said Leanne Perry, Centre Manager Junction Fair. “The upgrade will improve the overall shopping experience for our customers by providing a refreshing new look, improved amenities and a number of new energy saving concepts.”
Key to the Junction Fair ambience upgrade is:
· New Union and Glebe Street façades in contemporary colours with improved entries, added exterior lighting and signage to reflect The Junction.
· New and improved interior seating, show lighting and planter boxes
· Excellent amenities, with state of the art bathrooms and refreshed parents rooms
· Several water and electricity saving initiatives such as water efficient taps, auto flush technology, movement sensitive controls and energy lamps both inside and outside
An information board will be displayed inside Junction Fair explaining the upgrade as well as displaying artist impressions of the soon to be refurbished centre. Customers can also visit
www.junctionfair.com.au to learn more about the upgrade.
Junction Fair opened in 1986 and currently supports local schools through its Earning 4 Learning Initiative, as well as offering space in-centre for charities to fundraise.
